THANK-YOU!
November 8, 2011
We
the committee for the “Walk to Remember” sponsored by the D.L.G. Memorial Fund
would like to personally thank everyone who came and helped, donated or prayed
for good weather for our 4th annual event. We especially want to thank all who
renewed, and those who purchased new remembrance boards for their loved ones,
no longer with us, that where displayed along the sidewalk at the Teutopolis
Park on Oct. 2nd. Last but not least a special thank you to Jackie
Schackmann at “The Freeze” in Newton for the hotdogs and nacho chips enjoyed by
all, to Ashley Brummer at “Spectrum” for helping with the remembrance shirts
and to Judy McClure at “McClure Signs and Graphic’s” in Newton for all her time
in making our remembrance boards, labels and everything else we need for that
special day. Once again we raised enough money to be able to present a 2012
T.H.S. Graduate with a $1,000.00 Scholarship. If you have a deceased loved one
you would like to purchase a remembrance board for, please contact www.dlgmemorialfund.org or
Dawn @ 217-857-6647
or Dana @ 618-783-8595.
Again thanks to all who made this a very special day and hope to see everyone
next year on Oct 7, 2012 (1st Sunday in October) for our 5th Annual “Walk to
Remember”.
Thank
You

Thank-you to all who made our first annual "Walk to Remember" a wonderful day. What a great opportunity it was to take a moment and remember 123 different loved ones that aren't with us today. We would like to thank Judy McClure of Judy McClure's Signs and Graphics for all of her help with the planning of the event, remembrance boards, and all of the signs she made for us that day. We couldn't have done this without her. Thanks to Phil Niemerg with CandleArt for helping us with the remembrance candles and to Ashley Higgs of Spectrum Graphics for all of her help with the "Walk to Remember" t-shirts. We also want to thank The First National Bank of Dieterich, Red Cross, and The Gift of Hope for items and information to hand out to those who attended. And a big thanks to all who brought desserts and worked at the walk or supper.
This day was a success because of the donations and support from family, friends, and all who participated, thank-you. All proceeds from this day will go to the DLG Memorial Fund for scholarships and charitable donations.
Thank-you,
Family and friends of Doug L. Goeckner

The family of Doug L. Goeckner was thrilled to donate to the prize money from the Doug L. Goeckner Memorial Fund to the 1st place winner, Andy Will of Effingham, in the 12,500 eight and under class at the Sigel Tractor Pull on Sunday Aug. 31st 2008. All of the trophies for the pull were donated by Tony Fearday, Sigel Equipment, however the 1st place trophy for this class also was engraved, "In Memory Of Doug Goeckner" which made it even more special to Andy. Tractor pulling was something that Doug enjoyed doing. Congratulations to all the winners at the Tractor Pull and we will see you next year!
August 23, 2008
The Doug L Goeckner memorial fund is off to a great start with our first fundraiser which was held on Saturday August 23, 2008. We would like to thank Gerald, Steve & Rich Mette for hosting the event and all the guys that helped them make that day possible. We also want to thank Newton Tire Center, The Newton Freeze, Newton IGA, Newton K.C. Hall, Hoelschers Concrete, HIBC Foods, Lorenz Wholesale, Spectrum, Tropical Sno, Fuddle’s Finest, Brumleve Ind., Tim Mette, Wet Pools, Buening Implements, Koerner Distributors, our families and friends who helped and all who attended, bought food and 50/50 tickets , and to any one we may have missed, thank you. The memorial fund has been started to do things in memory of Doug. It was apparent to his family that Doug touched many lives with over one thousand people attending the visitation, and an overflowing church for his funeral and many, many stories. We want to keep Doug’s memory alive by giving scholarships, providing trophies and plaques for special events, make charitable donations and to help people that Doug would help if he were here today. To clarify where the donations will go, they will not go to the family. They will be used towards donations like the ones listed above. We are already planning our next event for this fall. To keep up on what’s going on and how the money is being used you can go to Doug’s web site at www.DLGmemorialfund.org. If you would like to donate you can do so at any one of the First National Bank of Dieterich locations, or send to Doug L Goeckner Memorial Fund at 205 S. Columbus St. Teutopolis, IL 62467. LET’S KEEP DOUG’S MEMORY ALIVE.
Thank You
